Today is the Hindu festival of Janmashtami, a celebration of the birth of God Krishna. Hindus celebrate this festival by performing a special puja or ceremony at the temples. I will attend this puja at a local temple in Delhi – all the temples are decorated so beautifully for the occasion! In the western state of Maharashtra, Janmashtami is celebrated with a lot of excitement. Groups of young people go around the cities trying to break as many clay pots as possible – a symbol associated with Krishma. Here is a video which shows Janmashtami celebrations.
